With Gamescom 2017 rolling in, we're starting to get some new trailers from just about all major game companies.

Of course, I'm most interested in the ones that I have consoles for, hehe...

So! Here's three things.

A new trailer for Fire Emblem Warriors, this time with Fire Emblem Fates as the focus. Besides reliving the old conflict between Hoshido and Nohr, we also get confirmation of Hinoka, Takumi, Camilla, and Leo. (No sign of Sakura or Elise, though...) I imagine that we'll see a Shadow Dragon-centered trailer in time as well before the game's release.

Some update information is given on Splatoon 2.

First, a new stage called Manta Maria is coming - a large old-fashioned ship sailing the waters. The three huge masts and the net bridges between them are key to this stage. It will come on August 26.

Second, the special weapon known as the Bubble Blower will be available in new weapon sets, like the Forge Splattershot Pro. Throw up to three giant bubbles, which will drift forward. Hit them with your team's ink enough, and they'll explode over a wide area. Of course, opponents can shrink or eliminate the bubbles using their own ink, but this still makes a good defense for you. The Forge Splattershot Pro, with the Bubble Blower special, will come September 2.

Third, a new Salmon Run stage is coming: Lost Outpost. This island seems to have the remnants of a single house in the center. The walls will make viewing hard, so you'll have to relay to your allies as much as you can. This will be available August 23.

The next fighter in ARMS was finally revealed: Lola Pop, a street-performing pugilist and well-traveled clown with a candy theme! For her character ability, she can inflate her outfit like a balloon - not too out of place for a clown, really. She seems to do this when guarding, even in the air (if I saw that right). She can move slightly on the ground like this, and can bounce off the ground when she does this in midair.

Of course, a new fighter brings new ARMS and a new stage. Her first ARM seems to use nunchucks. Attribute is unknown, but they do swing in a wide circle while being thrown. Next is a stamp-based version of Kid Cobra's Hydra. Besides its anti-air properties, it will stamp the foe's view with a Blind attribute - the second ARM to do so after Helix's Blorb. Her third ARM is a shield, much like Helix's Guardian, except it seems this can reflect the opponent's ARM on impact.

The stage itself appears to be a bakery or a café with a heavy candy theme. Its shape is S-like, making it more abstract than the circular or rectangular stages that we've seen up to this point. The stage music seems to be Italian-based - again, fitting for a clown, if you ask me.

Besides Lola Pop, Nintendo revealed that a new Global Testpunch event is going to happen soon, running from 8 AM August 25 to 2 PM August 27 (Pacific time).

(EDIT 8-24) Few more things that occurred in the past two days!

A demo is available for Pokkén Tournament DX! Just head on over to the Switch's eShop.

Also, the SNES Classic got a special trailer. It houses 21 games, and comes with two controllers. Additional gameplay features include rewinding the game (by a limited amount), choosing the border frame, and save states (which can even be used for the game's demo reel).

Oh yes. The games include:

- Donkey Kong Country
- Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting
- F-Zero
- Kirby Super Star
- EarthBound
- Mega Man X
- The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past
- Super Castlevania IV
- Final Fantasy III (it's FF6, in case you weren't aware)
- Super Mario Kart
- Contra III: The Alien Wars
- Super Punch-Out!!
- Super Mario World
- Super Metroid
- Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
- Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
- Kirby's Dream Course
- Secret of Mana
- Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts
- Star Fox
- the never-before-released Star Fox 2

It's all coming September 29, at $79.99.

A new video showcases some of the new features of Metroid: Samus Returns, which I will remind releases September 15.

- While gameplay takes place on the Top Screen, the map is displayed down on the Touch Screen.
- The Melee Counter attack is what it sounds like: a melee-ranged attack used to counter enemy attacks. When used right, it can leave enemies stunned and open for the kill.
- Aeion Abilities are comparable to super moves. After filling an Aeion meter, Samus can use one of four Aeion Abilities, which can give her a massive edge in exploration or combat. Scan Pulse reveals the entire area on your map and even highlights secret paths that Samus can open up. Lightning Armor makes Samus temporarily invulnerable to direct attacks, and even damages enemies on contact. Beam Burst temporarily powers up your beam attack's strength and rate of fire. Phase Drift slows time around Samus for a while.
- A special edition will also be released, with a reversible cover and a soundtrack CD with 25 songs from the Metroid series.
- The functions of the two Metroid series amiibo are revealed. These will also release alongside the game.
- The Samus amiibo gives you an Aeion reserve tank, which you can tap on the Touch Screen to instantly fill your Aeion meter, and after the game unlocks artwork from Metroid II: The Return of Samus.
- The Metroid amiibo places a Metroid marker on the map, so you'll know where to find the nearest Metroid. Post-game, it grants the option for Fusion Mode, which besides putting Samus in the Fusion Suit is an even harder difficulty than Hard Mode.
- The Super Smash Bros. Samus amiibo grants a Missile reserve tank (functions like the Aeion reserve tank, but for missiles) and, post-game, unlocks the Metroid: Samus Returns art gallery and a Sound Test feature.
- The Super Smash Bros. Zero Suit Samus amiibo grants an Energy reserve tank. Just like the Smash Bros. Samus one, this can also unlock the concept art and Sound Test, so the only difference between the two is the kind of reserve tank you get.

I missed the info on Pokken demo, thanks!

I am VERY excitable for Mario Oddyssey and Metroid. I like to think of Fusion Suit difficulty as crappy Samus difficulty. I enjoy Metroid Fusion, but she really is at her weakest in that suit, hence the new difficulty level when using it!
