Still alive?

Well, now that E3 2014 has come and gone, we've got some important details about Smash Bros. Let's take a look:

- Mii Fighters, three new characters with standard movesets based on their fighter types. In addition, all Mii Fighters can be outfitted with different outfits and hats.
- The first type, Mii Brawler, specializes in quick close-range combat.
- The second type, Mii Swordfighter, uses powerful weapon attacks.
- The third type, Mii Gunner, uses an arm cannon for long-ranged attacks.
- Also, the custom special moves of all Mii Fighters are completely different moves rather than variations, like with other characters.

- Palutena is confirmed. Many of her attacks use her staff, phantasmal wings, and light magic.
- Her special moves are all various Powers from Kid Icarus Uprising. Like Mii Fighters, her options for special move customization are completely different.
- Her Final Smash combines the Black Hole with the Mega Laser.
- Dark Pit made a brief appearance at the end of Palutena's trailer. What kind of role he serves in the game in currently unknown.

- Pac-Man is confirmed, with his classic appearance. Some "chomping" attacks make him morph into the mouth-flapping ball based on his original in-game sprite.
- Smash attacks use sprites of the Ghost Gang.
- His special moves include chasing a drawn trail of dots, using different Namco game sprites with different effects (he can scroll through them somehow), the trampoline from Mappy (it can be bounced on two more times before disappearing), and summoning a fire hydrant which spews water at both sides (and can be struck forth).
- His Final Smash turns him into a giant classic Pac-Man sprite, rushing about and chomping.
- Mr. Game & Watch made a brief appearance at the end of the trailer. This could be an early teaser to his inclusion.

- Nintendo explained amiibo, a collection of NFC figurines that can work with various Wii U games.
- For Smash Bros., you can save character data onto his/her amiibo, with different equipment and special move customization. The more you use the amiibo, the more it adapts to your fighting style.
- You can bring in an amiibo fighter to assist you in battle or as a challenging opponent.

-= THINGS IN THE 3DS VERSION =-
- Home-Run Contest returns. This time, there's a wall on the left to prevent the Sandbag from being knocked behind the plate.
- Some alternate version of Home-Run Contest is present. This one has a time bomb that needs to get struck away before it explodes.
- Adventure Mode features a large map with branching paths.
- 3DS version also has For Fun and For Glory for the With Anyone mode.
- Spectator Mode returns.
- You can wager coins to raise difficulty and rewards in certain modes, much like the Fiend's Cauldron in Kid Icarus Uprising.

-= KNOWN FINAL SMASHES =-
- (Mario) Mario Finale
- (Luigi) Poltergust: Spins it around to suck up foes. Didn't get to see what happens if he succeeds.
- (Rosalina) Power Star: As it scatters bouncing stars around, it gets bigger and bigger until it explodes.
- (Donkey Kong) Konga Beat: This time, it has a metronome of sorts to help with timing.
- (Link) Triforce Slash
- (Zelda) Light Arrow
- (Sheik) Light Arrow
- (Toon Link) Triforce Slash
- (Kirby) Ultra Sword
- (Pikachu) Volt Tackle
- (Greninja) Night Slash?: Starts by striking foes upward with Mat Block.
- (Samus) Zero Laser
- (Zero Suit Samus) Gunship: Aims a reticle, then fires a laser stream. Can shoot up to five times.
- (Fox) Landmaster
- (Marth) Critical Hit
- (Villager) Dream Home
- (Wii Fit Trainer) Wii Fit
- (Pit) Three Sacred Treasures
- (Little Mac) Giga Mac
- (Sonic) Super Sonic
- (Mega Man) Black Hole Bomb: Fires a high-suction shot forth. If it captures any foes, then he and the other Mega Men will fire upon them.

Now that we got that, we need to sort through the previous rumor lists and filter out the good ones.

-= RUMOR 1 =-
O Lucario returns.
O Mii Fighters join.
- Roster has around 40 characters.
- Mewtwo and R.O.B. return.
- Dixie Kong and Jumpman (probably 8-bit Mario) join.
- Snake is out.
- Cannon Box (from Super Mario 3D World) is a new item.
- Bowser Jr. is an Assist Trophy.

= TRUST KILLERS =
- Roster has more than 40 characters.
- Mewtwo, R.O.B., Dixie Kong, and/or Jumpman aren't in.
- Snake is still in.
- There's no Cannon Box
- Bowser Jr. isn't an Assist Trophy.
= MY DOUBTS =
- By now, it's very unlikely that the roster will have just 40-ish characters, even if you exclude any other newcomers.
- Jumpman? Paper Mario would be a more interesting "other Mario".

-= RUMOR 2 =- (DISTRUST!)
O Rosalina and Luma are newcomers...but we knew that already.
O Little Mac is a newcomer, a fast fighter.
O King Dedede returns.
O Yoshi returns.
O Palutena is a newcomer, "she can fly and nurse".
O Mii is a newcomer, customizable.
O Pac-Man is a newcomer.
- Mewtwo returns.
- Anna from the Fire Emblem series is a newcomer.
- Shulk is a newcomer.
- Ness, Jigglypuff, Ganondorf, and Falco also return.
- Lor Starcutter is a new stage.
- Prison Island (Xenablade Chronicles) is a new stage.
- Pokémon World Tournament is a new stage.

= DISTRUST! =
- The Fire Emblem newcomer is Robin. Lucina and Chrom also appear as alts, so it's unlikely there's another FE newcomer.

-= GEMATSU LEAKER =- (DISTRUST!)
(O) Villager (Animal Crossing)
(O) Mega Man
(O) Wii Fit Trainer
(O) Little Mac (Punch-Out!!)
(O) - Pac-Man
(O) - Mii
- Shulk (Xenoblade Chronicles)
(O) - Palutena (Kid Icarus)
- Chrom (Fire Emblem: Awakening)
- Chorus Men (Rhythm Heaven)
(O) A Gen-6 Pokémon (turned out to be Greninja)

= DISTRUST! =
- Chrom is part of Robin's Final Smash.

-= SuperMK17 =- (DISTRUST!)

The remaining characters are

= Palutena (Kid Icarus)
= Pac-Man (Pac-Man)
= Mii (Nintedo)
Medusa (Kid Icarus)
Bandana Dee (Kirby)
Wonder Red (Wonderful 101)
Chrom & Lucina (Fire Emblem Awakening)
Black Shadow (F-Zero)
Shulk (Xenoblade)

= DISTRUST! =
- Robin was confirmed playable. Chrom and Lucina are alts of Ike and Marth.

-= Naryol =-

- The roster contains 42 characters in all.
- Only three third-party characters are in.
- Ridley and King K. Rool are not playable.
- Unique characters like Lucario and R.O.B. likely won't be cut.

= TRUST KILLERS =
- The roster has more than 42 characters (which I bet it will).
- There's more than three third-party characters.
- Ridley and/or King K. Rool are in.
= MY DOUBTS =
- 42 characters? I don't know...We've got 30 characters revealed, with 6 other definite veterans (Captain Falcon, Ness, Ice Climbers, Mr. Game & Watch, Meta Knight, Wario), making 36. Considering there's 7 characters left from Brawl's roster to consider, even if four more of THOSE are axed, that'd still make 39 characters before considering other newcomers...and there's likely more than three more to go. Yeah...I don't trust this guy one bit.

-= Neoseeker =-

O Waluigi is an assist trophy (confirmed)
O Miis are playable
O Arceus is a pokeball (confirmed)
Shulk
is playable
Bandana Waddle Dee is playable
Sabure is playable (I think this is Prince Sable?)
Richard is an assist trophy
Tails is an assist trophy
Yveltal is a pokeball
Sector 4 (Metroid Fusion) is a stage
There is a new stage from the upcoming “X”
There is a new stage from DKC:TF
There is a new stage from “Wonderfull 101”

= TRUST KILLERS =
- Shulk, Bandanna Dee, and/or Prince Sable are not in.
- Richard and/or Tails are not Assist Trophies.
- Yveltal is not in the Poké Balls (or Master Balls, as it were).
- There's no stages of Sector 4, X, Tropical Freeze, and/or Wonderful 101.

-= RosalinaX & Houndstooth =-

- The roster has 48 characters.
- 4 characters in Brawl's roster are cut. (possibly counting Squirtle and Ivysaur)

= TRUST KILLERS =
- The roster doesn't have 48 characters.
- 2-3 more veterans are not cut.

-= Vague Leak =-

- There is an interesting new game mode which has not been revealed (Might be Smash Run)
- An unexpected character returns (Mewtwo?)
- The character roster is quite different from those predicted or “leaked”
- It releases much sooner than expected (The 3DS version's release?)
- There is a character hinted at in almost every trailer, even in the E3 trailer and I mean a different character for each trailer
- There are indeed secret characters that won’t be revealed until the game releases (there are also a couple characters I have seen few predict or “leak”)

= TRUST KILLERS =
- No unexpected character "returns".
= MY DOUBTS =
- 3DS version was first said to come out in the summer. Now it's coming out on October 3rd...

-= Dsgrntld =- (DISTRUST!)

O Mii Fighters, Palutena, and Pac-Man are in.
- Chibi Robo, Isaac, and Takamaru are in.
- Toad is in. Apparently, Peach's Toad move is going to use either Toadette or Toadsworth instead in the end.
- Tingle is in, mostly due to Japan popularity.
- Pokémon Trainer returns, this time using various key items, like Super Rod and Squirt Bottle.
- Mewtwo is back, replacing Jigglypuff in lieu of popularity.
- Wolf is replaced by a scaled-down full-body Andross.
- King K. Rool, Ridley, and Chrom are in.
- Bandanna Dee is in, using his spear and any other items that Waddle Dees use.
- Baby Mario Bros. are in (as a Yoshi rep). Baby Mario uses the side special, and Baby Luigi uses the down special, so you need to be careful on which baby you want in the lead. Losing one baby means losing that special move.
- Snake is out.
- Ice Climbers, Wario, Meta Knight, Ganondorf, Falco, Captain Falcon, Mr. Game & Watch, R.O.B., and Ness return.
- Assist Trophies include Bowser Jr., Prof. E. Gadd, Dixie Kong, Krystal, Prince Tricky, Ghirahim, Makar, Black Shadow, Prince Fluff, King Hippo, Medusa, Tabuu, Balloon Fighter, Duck Hunt Dog, Andy, Ray-01, John Raimi, the Wonderful 100, Doshin the Giant, Captain Rainbow, and Miles "Tails" Prower.

= DISTRUST! =
- Chrom is part of Robin's Final Smash.

Question.

How do you feel about certain characters, like Toon Link and Sheik, retaining their final smashes?
