Just 80 hours away from the big coronation! So, here's a more serious pic in regards to it.

Let's face it, Princess Twilight Sparkle isn't the first pony to get so much preemptive hate. Derpy and Cadance have both experienced this before.

As we all know, Princess Cadance was first seen in an early Royal Wedding playset alongside Shining Armor. When this was confirmed to be a scenario for the S2 finale, there was a lot of anger about her - being an alicorn, assuming that she'd be a Mary-Sue off the bat, and hopes that the wedding wouldn't end in any marriage. But after Cadance demonstrated her worth in A Canterlot Wedding, a lot of that was lost in the wind as praise came over.

Derpy wasn't so lucky, of course...She got a fairly-prominent role in The Last Roundup as the (accidental) cause of the wrecked town hall. Now, that was a nice nod to the bronydom's high respect for the sweet li'l airhead...except a lot of hate-messages came about it. Granted, it might've been a minority, but hate tends to be loud at times. It caused such a scare that her voice and eyes got edited! And the rage that followed didn't help - you know, I'm actually not surprised that Derpy didn't get any appearances in S3. {crosses arms and leers in disappointment}

And now, we have Twilight being crowned the next princess in Equestria's annals, as well as an update to her form. The two things that sparked a lot of anger was the alicorn status and the princess title. These have made a lot of gripes to give - she might leave her friends, the Mane 6 is "unbalanced", she's a Mary-Sue, the show is now OVAAAR...the list goes on.

...Granted, Season 4 was confirmed sometime after the alicorn news.

From all I've gathered for the upcoming episode, it's this - Twilight Sparkle will certainly prove herself worthy of this title. Equestria has already incorporated bits and pieces of the fantasy genre that the first MLP already brought young girls to (I can't begin to count how many pink structures and heart designs I've seen around the place). The princess title is no exception, and the writing group has dabbled in a deeper mythology for it. Meghan talked about the usual little girl's dream of being a princess (tough ones, too, in some cases). Well, Equestria's princesses are the ponies that best embody the valor of harmony - those that are trustworthy, noble, selfless, joyful, and kind. Essentially, Twilight Sparkle is knighted like a paladin. Given all she's gone through in these three seasons, she's certainly worthy by now.

And you know, while WHAT she is will change, WHO she is won't. Celestia's likely to allow Twilight in Ponyville for years to come. In fact, this could well tie in with her friends' cutie mark mix-up - you will always be you, no matter your destiny.

Just remember, hate is not the way to go (and it attracts the Windigos, besides). Cadance went through it, Derpy went through it, Celestia went through it, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Spike, many others have been through this mess as well on many degrees...Please, let's not put Twilight through this right now.
