Arthur Solstone, Draconian of the Round Table

Or vice-versa.

While he did live in the royal Solstone family of Cascata (capitol of the magi, or fay-humans), Arthur was the love-child of the legendary mercenary Uther Pendragon and Igraine, the wife of Uther's rival Gorlois. Arthur was born a draconian, a rare strand of humans that carry the genes of the ancient dragons that sculpted the world. This would normally be a great honor among the people of Mystome, but the circumstance of his birth led to Arthur being despised constantly by Gorlois. Still, he managed to find a childhood sweetheart, Guinevere.

It would be a while before Arthur was told the truth by Merlin Solstone, the wizard-king of Cascata and a former teacher of Uther. Wanting a meaning to his life, Arthur volunteered to serve in Merlin's guard. Through grit, hard practice, and some training from Merlin himself, he made a name for himself (modestly) and rallied the support of other great knights around the land. They would become a peace-keeping organization called the Knights of the Round Table. With Igraine's consent, Arthur was adopted under the Solstone surname - some believe it to be Merlin's penance for granting Uther the means to deceive Igraine.

Later on, it was time for Arthur and Guinevere to join in marriage. But, at the altar, something strange came over Arthur...A transformation was triggered, making him turn into a fearsome dragon and madly lashing out at everyone present, only stopping after seeing that he clawed Guinevere in the face. Overcome with shame, he fled Cascata as fast as he could, not giving anyone a chance to call him back...

He kept to himself in the far mountains, his only contact with society being a nearby dairy farm now and again. He swore that he wouldn't return to Cascata until he could rein in his violent draconic side. However, with soldiers of warring factions coming after his head, the time to return would be sooner than he had hoped. So, he accompanies Red and the Hoodlums, hoping that they can help him regain self-control and face his mistakes.

Arthur is skilled with defense/pressure-based swordplay, as well as hand-to-hand combat akin to kickboxing. Of course, his draconian wings allow him to add some lift to his jumps, letting him catch some air and even leap toward the fray quickly. Magic-wise, he specializes in fire magic, which can swallow up most other forms of magic that get in its way. This works with his defensive style.

At some point, he finds the mystical weapon bound in a stone lock - Excalibur. It normally looks like a targe, but it produces a magic blade the size of a claymore. Of course, not just anyone can use this weapon - it will react negatively to those who possess murderous intent. If such a person were to try and wield Excalibur...the results wouldn't be pretty.
The way it's held, Arthur can swing this around like he would a punch. It can also lash its blade out in a wide wave, or be thrust in a long-range punch shot. Apparently, its primary purpose is to finish a battle as quickly as possible - the user can will it to deliver non-fatal strikes, merely draining the targets' stamina instead of killing them.

Of course, if Arthur is pushed too hard, he'll assume his furious draconic form - a transformation referred to as Drakmode. In Drakmode, Arthur is brimming with strength and magic, and is covered in a hide that resists most attacks, physical and magical. This also shuts out most of Arthur's mind to dull pain, but this also makes him prone to attack just about anything around him, even friends. But if something gets him to calm down, he can call off Drakmode and revert back to his human form.

Arthur is a kind, peaceful soul, frowning upon wrongdoings but hardly ever holding hatred for anyone. He may distance himself from others, but only because he believes it's the best way to keep them from being hurt by him. His time in the wild has made him extra-observant of his surroundings, as well a quick to learn of the local flora and fauna.
